The Self Destructive Dan Rather
September 26, 2005: LaurenceJarvikOnline reports from the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. that, "Dan Rather obviously doesn't know much about ethics or excellence anymore--if he ever did..."
Dan Rather apparently still believes he did nothing wrong, with his revelations about President George Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard on the now defunct program 60 Minutes II. His claim that he was not at all politically motivated was and is now suspect. So, too, are his credentials as a journalist. Mr. Rather might have retired as a distinguished journalist emeritus, as did his predecessor, Walter Cronkite. He has no one else to blame for his disgraceful departure from CBS except Dan Rather himself. He was his own worse enemy.
